Celebrating Life Through Culture and Dance 2026

People living with dementia enjoyed a joyful celebration of local culture through music, dance, and togetherness. The event created a relaxed and welcoming space where participants could move freely, laugh, and connect with others while enjoying familiar rhythms and cultural expressions. Engaging in social and cultural activities plays an important role in dementia care. Music and dance can help stimulate memories, lift mood, reduce feelings of anxiety, and promote emotional wellbeing. Most importantly, these moments remind us that people living with dementia can continue to enjoy life, express themselves, and feel valued as part of their community. This celebration was a beautiful example of how inclusive, dementia-friendly events can bring happiness not only to those living with dementia, but also to their families, carers, and the wider community.

Art Beyond Memory: Creativity That Still Speaks

Art offers people living with dementia a powerful way to express feelings, memories, and identity beyond words. Through colour, texture, and simple creative moments, art therapy nurtures joy, calm, and connection—supporting wellbeing while celebrating the person, not the condition. These moments, organised by SAF, show how creativity continues to shine at every stage of life.
